AROUND THE GABLES

TWAIN HARTE LAKE

Twain Harte Lake, a little slice of paradise in the heart of the Sierras.  Created through construction of a dam in 1928, this private lake provides 40 acres of unlimited fun and enjoyment.

Many family cabins, built in the early years, are still owned by descendants of the original owners bringing a remarkable sense of history to the daily life of this community.

Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the Lake is enjoyed by lake members, their families and guests, and the Gables is the only inn or hotel that has acces to it for our guests. You will be captivated by the crystal clear lake, and starry night skies, and all that the community of Twain Harte has to offer.

You can even enjoy an awesome meal at "The Shack". The Burger and snack shack establishment at the lake that is also owned and operated by the same family that has run the Gables for years. Order online here: https://order.eatattheshack.com

*There is a $8.00 per person price upon entry at the gate

Their lifts whisk you to the top , to either the Big Hills, or their newly installed Magic Carpet to the smaller Kiddie Hills. Also, gone are the black inner-tubes used by Mom and Dad years ago. Also close by ... unspoiled Sierra rivers and lakes. One of our favorites? Pinecrest Lake...it's home to a marina, trout and bass fishing, swimming, boating, plenty of picnicing areas and our personal summertime favorite: outdoor movies under the stars!
